On the 27th December 2012…
Jesmond Dene is always a beautiful place to visit whatever the season. December often brings cold temperatures and at times snow. This year however there were no snowmen and it did not feel so cold.
The popular Jesmond Dene Waterfall was very large, appearing altogether stormy, as a result of the continued rain, over the past few months. Not far, an embarkment had collapsed, destroying three of the recently refurbished paths. This made the scene look more natural again, as if nature had reclaimed the surrounding area for itself.
In amongst all this action another rare site could be heard, A rather majestic looking Jay calling nosily as it travelled throughout the surrounding area, showing itself only briefly. This was a first for us, for this site and only our second record for 2012, the first being at Thornley Woods earlier in the year.
