On the 1st January 2013…
A visit to WWT Washington is always a hugely rewarding experience. First stop was a hot lunch and drink at the cafe, to warm ourselves up. From the cafe we could enjoy good views of many of the resident captive birds, such as Pintails and Shelduck. Afterwards we went for a walk around the site, and experienced close views of Black Swan, Flamingo and many more Wildfowl from around the world.
Our favourites this visit were the Chiloe Wigeons and the Black necked Swans. Both of which can be found in the wild in South America my home continent.
A short walk to the nature reserve provided good views of many wild birds such as Grey Heron and Great Spotted Woodpecker. The feeding station was also busy with birds.
